Some calculations
OK, here are some calculations that I find myself rerunning from time to time, that I am finally writing down for reference.
First tri - 8/24/2003
1:49:53 total elapsed.
10:23 swim (525m, pool)
2:46 tran 1
54:56 bike (12 miles, 13.11 mph, )
1:41 tran 2
40:01 run (5km, 12:55min/mile, ~8min/km)
Second tri - 9/2003
1:47:44 total elapsed.
18:13 swim (750m, open water, wet suit)
4:57 tran 1
48:06 bike (14 miles, 15.5 mph)
1:28 tran 2
35:02 run (5km, 11:17min/mile, ~7min/km)
Run Like a Mother - 2004
45:26 (4 miles, 11:21/mile, ~7min/km)
Trollinger Half-Marathon - 2005
3:02:37 (21 km, 8:41min/km, ~14min/mile)
So, even though I was running laps on the track at 2:20, I may have been lying to myself about my speed (or the length of a lap?). Granted, in the runs quoted above, I was already tired when I did the first, and the fourth mile of the second was almost completely walked. And the marathon started much better than it finished. And it was really really hot. I had hoped to do it in 2:45, and came in 15 minutes slower. This year I wrote down that I was planning for 2:30, which is just about 7min/km.
